The bible clearly states
As believers we are “dead to sin.”
We are free from its clutches,
No longer to walk therein.
To walk in sin is death,
Making yourself its slave.
We now have power to overcome sin
As Christ overcame the grave.
As our old man is dead,
Should we treat him as if he is still alive?
Can a dead person sin
If the man that was has no life?
We have died with Christ,
Yet are alive through God’s risen Son.
We have been raised in newness of life
With the power to overcome.
Freedom from sin does not mean
You will never be tempted.
Only as we walk in newness of life
The bondage of sin is preempted.
God’s true believers must continually desire
To put sin under their feet.
Make no accommodations for sin,
Being a slithering snake of deceit.
If sin has a foothold in your life,
Confess it to God and with it be done.
Sin has power in secrecy and darkness
So expose it through God’s Son
So the next time sin tries to lay hold on you
By raising its ugly head,
Turn it around to the Glory of God and remember
To sin you are dead.
