Over by a tree,
I met a man named peter,
He seemed to be afraid,
I asked could I help you,
But he started walking away,
I said I can't help but notice,
The sadness in your face,
What can I do,
Let me help you,
Please don't walk away.
He said look over yonder,
Look on Calvary,
There's a man named Jesus,
He died for you and me,
So I looked over at Jesus,
A man hanging on a tree,
There I saw a man,
Who had given his life for me,
A crown of thorns pushed in so deep,
The blood still running down,
Then nails in his hands and in his feet,
were swollen with veins hanging out,
The stripes that He took was like a zebra,
Oh what an agony,
Why peter why
Did he die for you and me,
He died for you and me,
To set us all free,
He loved us so much,
That He died for you and me.
He loved us so much,
That He died,
For you,
And me.
