I saw her standing over there by her daddy,
Her age maybe nine or ten,
She was crying and pointing her finger,
She said, Dad please don't let them do it again.
Her dad said not to worry,
That everything will be ok,
Jesus had to do this,
He had to make a way.
Some of the crowd were screaming,
Some cried out loud and said,
Don't crucify our Jesus,
Some say, hang him dead.
I looked over at the crowd,
I walked toward the cross,
A guard stood in my way,
He said back up, right now,
Or you will have to pay the cost.
So I backed up,
I looked up at the cross,
Jesus raised his head,
Father forgive them for they know not what they are doing,
He said
Blood drops were falling,
The crown of thorns stuck deep into his head,
The stripes that he took,
I am surprised that he wasn't already dead.
I heard the crowd behind me,
I saw the little girl again,
She hollered out to Jesus,
Jesus, I love you she said.
Tears were falling from her little cheeks,
Dad she asked,
Why did this have to happen,
And then the Dad said.
He had to make a way for us child,
Now we can have faith,
That we can be forgiven for our sins.
Mother Mary walked by,
Her son John at her side,
They walked over to Jesus,
As they brought Jesus down from up high.
The crowd moved away, They seem to all go home,
But the little girl stood and cried in her daddy's arms.
I knew that she was the reason,
As we all are today.
That Jesus had to shed his blood,
He had to make a way.
